Greetings Year 12 Chemistry students. Welcome to the first of three "units" of work on "Energy Transformations". You have 2 weeks to complete this unit (mainly about heats of reaction) which corresponds to chapters 23, 24 and 25 in your textbook.

You can skim read chapters 23 and 24 (about fossil fuels, nuclear power, solar power, wind power, hydro-electricity, and sustainable versus unsustainable sources of energy) - but don't spend too much time on them (one or two nights maxiimum)! You can get most of what you need to know from the first page of the downloadable condensed textbook notes here.

Chapter 25 is the important chapter as far as the end of year exam goes. Watch my videos below and attempt the downloadable multichoice questions here, and the downloadable extended response questions here. The answers to these questions are here. Also, you can attempt the following questions at the end of chapter 25 (pages 410-413): questions 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 13, 14, 24, 25, 26, 27, 30 and 33. Use me if you need help answering questions or don't understand anything, but I urge you to watch the videos first!

Summary of what you need to do:

1. Watch the videos below

2. Attempt the multichoice and extended response questions on heats of reaction

3. Skim read chapters 23 and 24

4. Read the condensed textbook notes

5. Look at chapter 25 and attempt some questions at the end of the chapter
